Alice Burton Alice Burton

Associate Director of Animal Shelter & Animal Control Engagement, Alley Cat Allies

As the former chief of animal control at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Virginia, where she worked for 14 years, Alice brings a wealth of experience to her work at Alley Cat Allies.

Though once skeptical of Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), she witnessed its benefits firsthand after her shelter began its own TNR program. Now, she travels around the nation to engage and inspire. Her goal is to always help municipal leaders, shelters, and animal control agencies adopt humane, effective programs for cats.

Alice received the Virginia Animal Control Association’s Public Service Award in 2014. She sits on the board of the Virginia Federation of Humane Societies (VFHS) and the National Animal Care & Control Association (NACA).

Alice enjoys serving the heads of her household, felines Captain Bobby and Misha.
