Founding Attorney, Gerber Animal Law Center
Calley Gerber, the founding attorney of Gerber Animal Law Center, has been fighting to protect animals in courts for the last decade. A seasoned advocate, she defends North Carolina cat caregivers and promotes pro-cat legislation and humane, nonlethal programs like TNR. In 2012, she led Alley Cat Allies’ successful campaign in Wake County, North Carolina, to pass a TNR ordinance.
As part of a larger Alley Cat Allies team, Calley develops legal strategy to pass effective laws that save cats’ lives.
Gerber teaches animal law at the University of North Carolina School of Law and regularly attends events around the nation to speak on animal law and other topics. She has been featured in USA Today, The Chicago Tribune, Lawyers Weekly, The News & Observer, Dog Living Magazine and other publications.
Gerber serves on the Board of Directors for various animal nonprofits, volunteers regularly, and lives with her rescue animals in Raleigh, North Carolina.
