Community Cat Surgeon , TLC PetSnip
Dr. Robert “Bob” Weedon is a dedicated advocate and practitioner of programs that protect and improve the lives of all cats, and has passed this knowledge on to future generations of veterinarians.
Dr. Weedon is now a community cat surgeon working and volunteering with TLC PetSnip in Lakeland, Florida, after retiring in 2018 as Clinical Assistant Professor and Service Head of Shelter Medicine at the University of Illinois (UI) College of Veterinary Medicine. He helped to grow UI’s shelter medicine program and trained veterinary students in high-quality, high-volume spay and neuter.
Dr. Weedon has also volunteered with Friends of Felines, a group that surgically sterilizes feral cats in Wilmington, North Carolina, and acted as a volunteer surgeon at New Hanover County Animal Control Services’ spay/neuter facility. He has served on the New Hanover County Board of Health, the Board of Directors of the Public Health Foundation of New Hanover County, and the UNC Public Health Foundation Board.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Contraception in Cats & Dogs, an international organization developing and implementing non-surgical methods of sterilization for animals.
